Students of Agriculture and Environmental science at Makerere University have vehemently recommended recycling plastics and buveera as a better solution instead of the country being led into dangerous shopping bags like Paper bags and non wooven plastic bags that are not recyclable in the country.Accordingly these non recyclable bags have been permited in most parts of the region.
The students while on a study tour of one of the prominent kaveera recycling plant in Wakiso Kabanyoro Uganda, expressed satisfaction on the work and efforts towards collection of buveera and eminent recycling across the country.
The Uganda plastic Manufacturers and Recyclers Association(UPMRA) hosted the students after a number of schools, instituitions in Uganda have made similar visits in different kaveera recycling hubs.
The communities ,well wishers, authorities, scientists ,students are being hosted at different kaveera recycling plants to ascertain the fast growing technologies in this country since it’s proper establishment since 10yrs back.
It has been found over 60,000 metric turns of kaveera is collected and recycled at the different 25 industrial plants in Uganda.
It should be noted since 2015,NEMA has been forcing into the market the non wooven bags and paper bags which are currently being fronted by Minister of Karamoja John Byabagambi a friend to NEMA ED Tom Okrut. They seem to be hurrying similar interests. And when one talks their ideologies are typical identical, you can be forced to think, they share and rehearse about the presentation.
However both men of government have been reported before government, the president and Speaker of parliament of acting with impunity and trying to use their offices to influence decision and misquide on kaveera ban.
A source with in UPMRA has been in constant touch with Kempala Documentaries to give a clear picture hours after the visit of Makerere science students to the recycling plants.
Whereas Byabagambi and Okrut have persistently despised recycling because of their strong hidden agenda,Makerere students were quick to realise, they needed memorandum of understanding with UPMRA so that they enforce public awareness on proper disposal of all these buveera and plastics for effective kaveera recycling.
The host officers at the recycling plant, assured students that there was a luck of enforcement on major principals especially like factories that produce kaveera and don’t recycle collections from environment.
When contacted UPMRA Publicist and former EALA aspirant Hon Moses Ategeka Brown, acknowledged that recycling in Uganda might have a premature end if much is not done to contain ill and perverted ideologies exhibited by high profile officers that are highly fronting industrial war between plastic bags and PAPER BAGS.
He accused that government and it’s spy agencies start to secretly investigate all senior government heads that are expressly trying to stop recycling in the name of lifting paper bags which have been highly condemned because they use forests as a raw material.
KACITA PR Isa Sekito recently attacked Minister Byabagambi of open support to paper companies and warned him, traders are not willing to trade in papers that put mabira and other forests at stake.
According to reports,it’s indicated that paper companies although failed to establish much in the market, have been pushing smart for Ant kaveera policies with hope of hijacking the plastic bag market share and this industrial war is long standing.
